The American Merchant Marine Museum at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point honored its founder, Capt. Charles M. Renick ’47, with a formal presentation of a portrait on the evening of May 20.

The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy’s (USMMA) Superintendent Rear Adm. James A. Helis, USMS, served as Grand Marshal as the Regimental Band, "George M. Cohan's Own,” Color Guard and Regiment of Midshipmen led the 92nd annual Great Neck Memorial Day Parade, Monday.

KINGS POINT, N.Y., June 3, 2016- Today, the United States Merchant Marine Academy's (USMMA) newest Merchant Marine Officers rang the bell at Powell Oval after successfully passing U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) license exams.

United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) Marine Transportation Professor Capt. David Moskoff, USMS, represented the United States and its National Coordination Office for Space-Based Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) at the Royal Institute of Navigation (RIN) 10th Annual Baška Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Conference at Krk Island, Croatia, in May. 

The USMMA Regimental Band and Color Guard will march, and Superintendent Rear Adm. James A. Helis, USMS, will serve as the parade’s Grand Marshal.

KINGS POINT, N.Y., May 24, 2016 - The United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point celebrated National Maritime Day, yesterday.  The day was filled with events that highlighted the critical role that the U.S. maritime industry has played since the infancy of our nation.

The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy’s (USMMA) Mariners Chorus joined the Glee Clubs of the U.S. Naval Academy and U.S. Coast Guard to perform at the National Maritime Awards Dinner at the National Press Club, Washington D.C.

KINGS POINT, N.Y., May 20, 2016 - On Wednesday night, over two hundred students participated in Midshipmen Bingo in Delano Hall. Presented by the Office of Student Activities and the Company Morale Officers, it was the first event of its kind at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

KINGS POINT, N.Y., May 17, 2015 – U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Superintendent Rear Adm. James A. Helis joined the faculty and staff for an awards ceremony to congratulate 262 midshipmen for their outstanding accomplishments in the classroom and at sea Monday.

The midshipmen were honored with Academic Gold and Silver Stars for the second academic term of Academic Year 2016 and Sea Year Ribbons.
