He asked that the people of the United States "honor and remember the victims of September 11, 2001, and their loved ones through prayer, contemplation, memorial services, the visiting of memorials, the ringing of bells, evening candlelight remembrance vigils, and other appropriate ceremonies and activities."

KINGS POINT, N.Y., September 9, 2016 - Yesterday, United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) Midshipmen attended a pep rally in anticipation of the Secretaries' Cup, an annual football game between USMMA and The United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA). Over 1,500 guests joined their Midshipmen for a full weekend of activities that included tours, classroom visits and a formal parade.

KINGS POINT, N.Y., July 26, 2016 - Maritime Administrator, Paul N. Jaenichen Sr. joined Superintendent, Rear Admiral James A. Helis, Deputy Superintendent, Rear Admiral Susan Dunlap and Interim Academic Dean, David Palmer, PhD, at the United States Merchant Marine Academy’s (USMMA) annual Academic Convocation to celebrate the beginning the 2016-2017 Academic Year and to honor Captain Kenneth R. Force, the Academy’s Director of Music for over 45 years.

KINGS POINT, N.Y., July, 20, 2016 - Yesterday, the T/S Golden Bear, California Maritime’s Training Ship, passed both SUNY Maritime College and The United States Merchant Marine Academy, with cadets from Texas A&M, CAL Maritime and thirty from USMMA.
