KINGS POINT, N.Y., May 26, 2016 – Earlier this month, the United States Merchant Marine Academy’s (USMMA) Regimental Auto Club hosted its Second Annual Auto Show on the Academy grounds.

KINGS POINT, N.Y., May 24, 2016 - The United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point celebrated National Maritime Day, yesterday.  The day was filled with events that highlighted the critical role that the U.S. maritime industry has played since the infancy of our nation.

The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy’s (USMMA) Mariners Chorus joined the Glee Clubs of the U.S. Naval Academy and U.S. Coast Guard to perform at the National Maritime Awards Dinner at the National Press Club, Washington D.C.

KINGS POINT, N.Y., May 20, 2016 - On Wednesday night, over two hundred students participated in Midshipmen Bingo in Delano Hall. Presented by the Office of Student Activities and the Company Morale Officers, it was the first event of its kind at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

KINGS POINT, N.Y., May 17, 2015 – U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Superintendent Rear Adm. James A. Helis joined the faculty and staff for an awards ceremony to congratulate 262 midshipmen for their outstanding accomplishments in the classroom and at sea Monday.

The midshipmen were honored with Academic Gold and Silver Stars for the second academic term of Academic Year 2016 and Sea Year Ribbons.

The American Merchant Marine Museum at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point opens its most ambitious display to date, “How to Abandon Ship,” The SS Robin Moor Story, on Friday.

Gen. Darren W. McDew, Commander, U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) will deliver the 80th Commencement address at the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point on Saturday, June 18, 2016, Rear Adm. James A. Helis, USMS, announced today.

Members of the public as well as faculty and midshipman are invited to attend the “Kings Point Auto Club’s” (Regimental NAFI) second Auto Show held on the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy grounds on Sunday, May 15.

The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy’s (USMMA) Acta Non Verba Club held a food drive service project to help veterans and families of active duty military personnel in need.

KINGS POINT, N.Y., May 4, 2016 – Midshipman William Murray, a First Classman at the United States Merchant  Marine Academy (USMMA) was awarded Second Prize in the Student Research Papers Competition for his paper “Economies of Scale in Container Ship Costs” at this year’s Connecticut Maritime Association’s (CMA) annual Trade Show and Conference, Shipping 2016.
