History Comes Alive During 2016 Gettysburg Battlefield Staff Ride

KINGS POINT, N.Y., October 20, 2016 - History was recently brought to life for seven members of the Class of 2017 during a staff ride to the Gettysburg Battlefield.  Held over the weekend of October 15th, the staff ride was organized by Dr. Jennifer Speelman, Associate Professor in the Kings Point Humanities Department, with the intention of enabling Midshipmen to relive the events of Gettysburg through the eyes of expert historians.

United States Merchant Marine Academy to Host Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony on 73rd Birthday

On Friday, September 30th, the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point will host a brief ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of USMMA’s Pollinator Garden. KINGS POINT, N.Y., September 9, 2016 – Today, President Barack Obama, proclaimed Friday, September 9 through Sunday, September 11, 2016, as National Days of Prayer and Remembrance. He asked that the people of the United States "honor and remember the victims of September 11, 2001, and their loved ones through prayer, contemplation, memorial services, the visiting of memorials, the ringing of bells, evening candlelight remembrance vigils, and other appropriate ceremonies and activities."
