Department of Public Safety

The Department of Public Safety is responsible for all aspects of campus safety and security. The Academy's security force is comprised of federal police officers and federal security guards, supplemented by contract personnel as necessary. The force staffs the gatehouse on Steamboat Road, the only vehicular access location to USMMA, and provides patrols on foot, and in marked and unmarked vehicles.

The Department of Public Safety is a full service law enforcement agency dedicated to excellence in public service. The Academy has mutual—aid agreements with the police and fire departments of the Village of Kings Point and Nassau County Police Departments to supplement our force, and receives investigative support from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Our primary mission is to provide a safe and secure environment ensuring the successful completion of the Academy's mission. We are committed to providing the highest standards of public service through adherence to the values of honesty, integrity, and the respect of human dignity to all.

USMMA works to ensure that our campus is a safe place to learn and work. Midshipmen, faculty, and staff can help safeguard our campus by taking preventative measures to ensure safety.  While the Academy cannot provide information on all possible incidents that may occur, links on this pagewill direct you to basic procedures in the event an emergency: USMMA Emergency Reference Materials Page
