The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), under the leadership of Sexual Assault Response Coordinator, Tamara Jell, has a full month of activities scheduled in support of this year’s national campaign entitled, “Prevention is Possible.” The schedule includes student and faculty presentations, displays, informational programs and guest speakers.

KINGS POINT, N.Y., February 19, 2019 – This morning, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Superintendent, Rear Admiral Jack Buono, Academic Dean and Provost, Dr. John R. Ballard and Head, Department of Professional Development and Career Services (PD&CS), Captain Gene Albert awarded Sea Year Ribbons to Class of 2021B-Split midshipmen.

KINGS POINT, N.Y., February 12, 2019 – In a late 2018 lunch muster ceremony, Rear Admiral Buono, Superintendent, Dr. John Ballard, Academic Dean and Provost, and Captain Mike Stroud, Commandant of Midshipmen presented Gold and Silver Stars, and Sea Year Ribbons to high performing midshipmen. The trio presented the Stars for academic excellence during the first term of Academic Year 2019, and Sea Year Ribbons for superior academic achievement to members of the Class of 2019A.

KINGS POINT, N.Y., December 18, 2018 - On Monday December 10th, eleven United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) midshipmen received scholarships at the annual Connie Awards luncheon and awards ceremony in Elizabeth, New Jersey. The event drew an audience of over 400 distinguished attendees from a broad cross-section of the maritime and transportation industry.  CAPT Preston DeJean, of the Department of Marine Transportation accompanied the midshipmen.
