Parents’ Weekend

Parents’ Weekend at the United States Merchant Marine Academy is a cherished tradition where families are welcomed to Kings Point to witness the remarkable transformation and daily rigors of the Regiment of Midshipmen. Throughout the weekend, parents and guests have the unique opportunity to experience life at the Academy firsthand, from attending formal dress parades and athletic events to exploring the historic campus and engaging with dedicated faculty and staff. It is a time of immense pride, as midshipmen showcase their commitment to academic excellence, regimental discipline, and the institution's guiding principle of Acta Non Verba. This special event not only strengthens the vital bond between the Academy and the families who support our future maritime leaders, but it also highlights the exceptional caliber of the young men and women preparing to serve our nation's commercial fleet and armed forces.

9/11 Ceremony/Colors Formation – Flagpole.

0730 – 1540 – 

Open Classroom Visitations. Visits are on a space available basis. This is your opportunity to visit the classrooms and observe the learning atmosphere of your Midshipman experiences. Obtain your Midshipman’s class schedule and have them ask the instructor if there is space for you to attend.

0800 – 1500 – 

Parents Association Chapters set up on grassy area next to Barney Square.

0800 – 1500 – 

Waterfront open for general visiting.

0900 – 1500 –

Museum open for general visiting.

0900 – 1500 –

Mariners’ Chapel Open for general visiting.

1030 – 1130 –

Pick up Boxed Lunch at Land Hall (Ticket Required, Advance Sales Only*)

1145 – 1200 –

 Lunch Muster and Regimental March in – Company Areas/Barney Square.

**NOTE: All Midshipmen MUST eat noon meal with the Regiment in Delano Hall**
Volleyball and Women’s Soccer Team’s Plebes will be sworn into the Navy Reserve at Lunch Muster.

1300 – 1400 –

Superintendents’ Forum – Ackerman Auditorium. Academic Dean/Provost, Commandant, Director of F&I, and Midshipmen Regimental Commander will also be available to answer questions.

1600 – 1645 –

Regimental Parade/Plebe Swearing-In Ceremony – Tomb Field.

1700 –

Plebe pinning in Company areas Liberty will commence for all eligible Plebes/Midshipmen.

2300 –

Liberty expires for 2/C, 3/C, and Plebes. Campus Closed.
