Black History Month at the American Merchant Marine Museum
KINGS POINT, N.Y., Feb. 19, 2016 – In the spirit of celebrating Black History Month, the American Merchant Marine Museum is playing the film Salty Dog Blues: Merchant Marines of Color Fighting for Their Rightful Share, on a continuous loop in the media room. The documentary is a frank look at the struggle for non-white merchant mariners to be recognized for their service during World War II and beyond.
The American Merchant Marine Museum is open Tuesday through Friday, 10am-3pm. Feel free to drop by and view the film even if for just a few minutes.
