McDaniels Prepared For Tazón de Estrellas After Busy Week In Mexico; Watch The Game Live!
KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Dec. 18, 2015) – USMMA senior quarterback Matt McDaniels (Malverne, N.Y.) has been in Baja, Mexico, since Sunday as he was selected to play in the Tazón de Estrellas representing Team Stars & Stripes – a 41-man roster made up of seniors from a total of 27 Division III institutions. McDaniels and the squad will square off against the CONADEIP All-Stars from the CONADEIP private universities in Mexico with the contest scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 19, at 3 p.m. EST at the Margarita Astiazrán de Fimbres Stadium in Baja.
Practices under fourth-year head coach Don DeWaard (Central College) started promptly on Monday morning and lasted throughout the week. The team also spent time at numerous meetings to install the offense and defense ahead of the game.
McDaniels and the rest of Team Stars & Stripes took time out of their day on Tuesday for some community service by welcoming in children from a nearby orphanage and spreading some "Holiday Cheer" with the kids. Kickoff of the Seventh Annual Tazón de Estrellas is at 3 p.m. EST / 12-noon local time and the much-anticipated game will feature in a live webcast at http://www.cetys.mx/envivo/. They meet for a seventh time, the series between the traditional rivals is tied at 3-3 in the "Bowl of the Stars."
