USMMA to Host Labor Day Parents Weekend

KINGS POINT, N.Y. Aug. 27, 2018 - The U. S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point will host Midshipmen parents and family members during Labor Day weekend, Aug. 31 to Sept. 2, 2018.

Highlights of Parents Weekend will include the Ceremony of Beating Retreat, by the USMMA Regimental Band, on Friday, Aug. 31, and a formal parade and 5K run on Sat., Sept. 1.

The annual event will also offer opportunities to visit Midshipmen living quarters, academic classes, sporting events and staff presentations, while the Class of 2022 will enjoy their first night of liberty since entering the Academy. (Note: Restriction and watches remain in effect during Parents Weekend, so please check with your Midshipman/Plebe to ensure they meet eligibility requirements for liberty.)
