USMMA Honors America's Fallen at Great Neck Memorial Day Parade
KINGS POINT, N.Y., June 1, 2016 - The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy’s (USMMA) Superintendent Rear Adm. James A. Helis, USMS, served as Grand Marshal as the Regimental Band, "George M. Cohan's Own,” Color Guard and Regiment of Midshipmen led the 92nd annual Great Neck Memorial Day Parade, Monday. The parade, which honored fallen servicemen and women, concluded with a remembrance service on the Village Green.
“The Academy was honored to lead our neighbors as we paid our respects to those who gave their lives for us all,” said Helis. “We remember the servicemen and women we have lost, and honor them by rededicating ourselves to strengthening our Nation's promise.”
