Rear Admiral Paul L. Krinsky Memorial Service Announced

KINGS POINT, N.Y. August 22, 2023 - There will be a memorial service celebrating the life of Rear Admiral Paul L. Krinsky, on Thursday, September 7, at 1 p.m. Guests are asked to be seated by 12:45 p.m. The service will be held in the Mariners Chapel. Uniform is summer whites for uniformed personnel and midshipmen.

RADM Krinsky, Class of 1950, passed away on June 17, 2023. He was the United States Merchant Marine Academy’s seventh Superintendent (1987-1993) and the second alumnus to serve in that position. His obituary follows.

Paul L. Krinsky, age 94 of Waterford, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at the Hospice House in Auburn. He was born Nov. 9, 1928, in Brooklyn New York, a son of the late Nathan and Hilda (Rosengard) Krinsky.


Krinsky attended James Madison High School, City College of New York, and was a member of the first graduating class of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point in 1950. After a combined eight years in the Merchant Marine and the U.S. Navy, he spent his career back at Kings Point, ultimately serving as its Superintendent from 1987 until his retirement in 1993.

Upon retirement, Krinsky and his wife Audrey moved to Waterford, Maine where they became enthusiastic members of that great community. After Audrey passed away in 1999, he spent over 20 great years with Anita Brause, splitting their time between Maine and New York City. He is survived by his sons Ross Krinsky and his wife Kirstin and David Krinsky and his wife Lori; his partner Anita Brause, her daughters Debra Brause and her husband Mike Dieffenbach, Caryn Brause and her husband Steve Breslow; and his cherished grandchildren Pete, Dan, Lucy, Nate, Alyssa, William, Ben, and Dahlia.
