Midshipmen Receive Academic Honors
KINGS POINT, N.Y., August 12, 2019 – In a late May lunch muster ceremony, Rear Admiral Buono, Superintendent, Dr. John Ballard, Academic Dean and Provost, and Captain Mike Stroud, Commandant of Midshipmen, and Commander Paul Acquaro, Director of the Academic Center of Excellence presented Gold and Silver Stars to midshipmen demonstrating academic excellence during the second term of Academic Year 2019.
“Congratulations to all of the Midshipmen who have demonstrated excellence in the academic program and earned these honors,” said Acquaro
Gold and Silver Academic Stars are awarded on the following basis:
Gold Star: a QPA of at least 3.50 with no course failures in the term;
Silver Star: a QPA of at least 3.25 up to and including 3.49 with no course failures in the term.

At lunch ceremony a few days earlier, Captain Gene Albert, Head of the Department of Professional Development and Career Services awarded Sea Year Ribbons to the Class of 2020 B-Split midshipmen who excelled during their Sea Year.
Sea Year Ribbons are awarded to those with:
QPA of at least 3.25 up to and including 3.49;
no failing grade;
above average (3.0) Shipboard Performance Evaluations, in PD&CS Shipboard Database at the time of the initial posting of Sea Project grades.
