Midshipman Gavin Bradley Named Honor Graduate at Army Airborne Course
KINGS POINT, N.Y., April 5, 2019 – Yesterday, during a lunchtime ceremony at the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point, Superintendent, Rear Admiral Jack Buono, presented Midshipman Third Class Gavin Bradley with the Academy Achievement Ribbon, recognizing him for "superior performance of his duties while attending the United States Army Basic Airborne Course.”
CPT Charles Billie, USMMA’s Army Liaison, read the citation that accompanied the award, explaining, “Midshipman Bradley led by example as a chalk leader during all five of his required exits from a high performance aircraft at over one-thousand feet. His efforts left a lasting impression on the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment cadre and staff.” Bradley’s performance earned him the designation of Honor Graduate, as the top member of the Airborne class. He was chosen for the honor out of a group of 313 that included Army officers, non-commissioned officers, and Soldiers.
After reading the citation, Billie pinned the “Parachutist Badge” better known as “Jump Wings” on Midshipman Bradley’s uniform.
