The United States Merchant Marine Academy Hosts 7th Annual Women on the Water Conference

KINGS POINT, NY – March 30, 2015 – Last week, The United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) in conjunction with the U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) hosted the 7th Annual Women on the Water (WOW) Conference.   The annual conference, which is hosted by a different U.S. maritime academy each year, brought together over 125 maritime professional mariners and maritime academy cadets.  The three day conference began with opening remarks from Maritime Administrator Paul N.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Visits the United States Merchant Marine Academy

KINGS POINT, N.Y., March 18, 2015 – On Monday, General Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, visited the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point. General Dempsey was the guest speaker at the 2015 Battle Standard Dinner, an annual event at USMMA, honored the memories of the 142 Cadet-Midshipmen who lost their lives during World War II.

USMMA Announces Keynote Speaker for 2015 Women on the Water Conference

Midshipman Collin Putnam Receives Maritime Service Professional Achievement Medal

KINGS POINT, N.Y., January 15, 2015 – Yesterday, during a lunchtime ceremony at the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point, Midshipman First Class Collin Putnam received a medal recognizing him for an " act of heroism at the risk of his own life while assigned to the USNS GRUMMAN on 18 December 2013."

Approval of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy's "Margin of Excellence Needs List 2013"

On February 11, 2013, the U. S. Maritime Administrator, David Matsuda officially approved the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy's "Margin of Excellence Needs List: 2013." The list is closely tied to goals of the Academy's Strategic Plan which strives to enhance academic excellence through cutting edge programs, creating a more dynamic campus culture, providing sound leadership and creating a first class infrastructure.
