USMMA Welcomes Incoming Class of 2018

KINGS POINT, NEW YORK, July 3, 2014 - Yesterday, The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point (USMMA)  welcomed its incoming Class of 2018, consisting of 252 plebe candidates representing 46 states and 4 Foreign Countries, including Malaysia, Romania, Panama and the Republic of Korea.

225 Merchant Marine and Military Officers Graduate From USMMA

USMMA Rechristens Training Vessel Kings Pointer

KINGS POINT, NY, June 17, 2014 – Yesterday, U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx and Acting Maritime Administrator Paul “Chip” Jaenichen visited the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) to celebrate the rechristening of the Academy’s new training vessel, the Kings Pointer.  They were joined Rear Admiral James Helis, Superintendent, as well as Senator Charles Schumer and Representatives Timothy Bishop and Steve Israel.

Class of 2015 Bell-Ringing To Be Streamed Live

The United States Merchant Marine Academy's (USMMA) newest merchant marine officers will ring the bell at Powell Oval after passing U.S. Coast Guard license exams, on Thursday, June 4thth . This event will begin once results are announced, but does not have a firm start time. Results should be announced close to 1:00 p.m.

U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Celebrates Completion of Mallory Pier

KINGS POINT, N.Y., June 2, 2014 – On Friday, the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of Mallory Pier. The pier was completely reconstructed as part of USMMA’s overall $71 million dollar Capital Improvement Plan.

USMMA Celebrates National Maritime Day

KINGS POINT, N.Y., May 29, 2014 - The United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point celebrated National Maritime Day on May 22nd with a ceremony in the Mariners’ Memorial Chapel, while the American Merchant Marine Museum marked the occasion with the opening of a new exhibit, “Remembering the 142.”
