Communications

The Office of External Affairs works closely with stakeholders from congress, community, industry, government and members of the press providing information on the life, events and policies of the Academy. It is the liaison with the Office of Communications at the Maritime Administration and the Department of Transportation.

From Homecoming to Graduation, the Office of External Affairs is part of the management team for Academy special events, community outreach, press conferences and VIP tours.

Visiting the Academy

Visitors to the United States Merchant Marine Academy are welcome when the Academy is open for normal operations. The Academy grounds, museum, and Navy Exchange are open to the general public throughout the year, Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the exception of federal holidays and the summer and winter leave periods.

Additionally, the campus is occasionally affected by current or unique campus events, and while the scheduled hours above are a good guideline, it is always best to consult the Academic Calendar before requesting a specific date, and call and confirm the operating status before coming.

Tours are based on the purpose of your visit and can be arranged by contacting the appropriate department. Click the hyperlink for specific information regarding visiting the Academy.

Building upon relationships forged at Kings Point, they continue to collaborate throughout their lives, ensuring a strong, technologically relevant U.S. Maritime Industry.

USMMA Parents Association

The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Parents' Association and its local Parents' Associations constitute a network of state and regional groups who support the Academy's midshipmen and who have a common bond of pride and camaraderie. The Parents' Associations share information and their experience with candidates for admission and their parents. Individual associations sponsor meetings and social events for the families of current midshipmen and encourage participation by candidates and their parents.
