The Dean of United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point accepted a position to serve as Deputy Associate Administrator and National Coordinator for Maritime Education and Training at the headquarters of the Maritime Administration (MARAD), as announced today.

Force, USMS, announced his intention to retire in 2016 at the end of the “Ceremony of Beating Retreat” performed by the USMMA Regimental Band with the Nassau County Police Department Pipes and Drums.

KINGS POINT, N.Y, September 2, 2014 – The United States Merchant Marine Academy’s (USMMA) Catholic Chaplain, the Reverend Monsignor Brendan P. Riordan celebrated his final mass at the Mariners’ Memorial on Sunday, August 30th.

USMMA Graduates are among the best earning college graduates in the nation according to a nation-wide study released last week.  The PayScale, Inc. 2015-16 College Salary Report ranked USMMA 5th for early career pay with an average salary of $77,900, only $5,000 behind the top school. For mid-career pay, Payscale ranked USMMA as 7th, with a median mid-career salary of $128,000.

KINGS POINT, N.Y., August 27, 2015 – The United States Merchant Marine Academy’s (USMMA) newest plebes, completed their first overnight training cruises aboard the training vessel, T/V Kings Pointer this month. The first of ten scheduled overnight trips for the Class of 2019 sailed August 13-14. These trips follow the nine shorter plebe day trips conducted during indoctrination. The intent is for each class member to participate in an overnight cruise by the end of the trimester.

The American Merchant Marine Museum at the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point reopens to the public, Tuesday, September 1, after renovations. A core artifact of the museum’s collection, a Japanese samurai sword presented by Gen. Douglas MacArthur to the Academy in 1945, was for the first time analyzed by a historic weapons expert.
