KINGS POINT, N.Y., Dec. 10, 2015 – Two U.S. Army Reserve vessels arrived at the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) and tied up at Mallory Pier last month. Over several days, U. S. Army Reserve leaders met with midshipmen and introduced them to the obligation-fulfilling career opportunities that are available to them as reservists aboard Army watercraft.

USMMA's tree is one of the tallest holiday displays in the United States. At 172 feet, the tree is comprised of 3000 linear feet of wire.  With one light per foot, the tree's 3000 lights are easily seen from Nassau, Queens, the Bronx and Manhattan.

Six United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) midshipmen received scholarships at the annual Connie Awards luncheon at the Newark Club in Newark, N.J. on Monday.

Over the past month Cookie Cafe, a much loved custom at the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), broke with tradition by taking their cookies to other maritime academies in order to bring comfort to students, alumni, faculty, staff and families who suffered the loss of a crew member aboard the El Faro lost during Hurricane Joaquin.

The United States Merchant Marine Academy’s (USMMA) Regiment of Midshipmen, administration, faculty, staff and alumni were joined by Maritime Administrator Paul “Chip” N. Jaenichen and Deputy Maritime Administrator Mike Rodriguez (Kings Point ’79) for the annual Thanksgiving dinner celebration.

KINGS POINT, N.Y., November 23, 2015 – The United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) and Regiment of Midshipmen welcomed back 193 cadets who returned to the Academy after completing their Sea Year assignment, during a “Back From Sea Dinner”.

KINGS POINT, N.Y.,  November 20, 2015 – Midshipmen from the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) had the opportunity to attend the 6th Annual Maritime Risk Symposium at the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey earlier this week.

KINGS POINT, NY – November 17, 2015. This year’s fall training cruise aboard the United States Merchant Marine Academy’s (USMMA) Training Vessel, T/V Kings Pointer, was unlike any other.  The midshipmen, officers and crew aboard became part of history when they delivered a binnacle from the SS Mayaguez to the Pentagon for a future exhibit.

KINGS POINT, N.Y., November 2, 2015 – Three Torah scrolls from the Mariners’  Memorial Chapel at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, N.Y., were rededicated in a Friday Evening Jewish Sabbath service, bringing together Jewish alumni and current midshipmen during this year’s Homecoming weekend.
