2. Get Started

The application for admission to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Class of 2028 (entering in July of 2024), is coming soon.

The USMMA Applicant Portal uses LOGIN.GOV to allow you to sign in to your account safely and securely.  Applicants will need two things to access the USMMA Applicant Portal:

  1. You must have an email address to create a USMMA Applicant Portal account.  It is preferable that you use an email account that is specific to the applicant (not a shared or family email address) and one that you will have access to throughout the admission process and during enrollment at USMMA.  We discourage use of a school email address that will be inactivated after graduation/departure from that institution.

  1. You must have a LOGIN.GOV account linked to the same email address you use to create your account the USMMA Applicant Portal. You will use your LOGIN.GOV credentials to sign in to the portal-no additional password is necessary.

If you do not have a LOGIN.GOV account, you can create one the first time you access the USMMA Applicant Portal, or you can go to to create an account in advance.

If you already have a LOGIN.GOV account, log in at and ensure that the email address with which you will register in the USMMA Applicant Portal is associated with your existing LOGIN.GOV account.

You will receive an email with additional information on how to log in to the portal after you create your account.

More information about LOGIN.GOV is available at
