The Department of Public Works mission is to design, construct, operate and maintain facilities for the US Merchant Marine Academy. We provide planning, programming, design and construction management of major construction, minor construction, repair and sustainment projects. We also operate, maintain, and repair, installation real property facilities. We provide a sustaining force necessary to keep all utility infrastructures and facilities in safe operating condition while seeking renovation and improvement of systems.

The Department of Public Works is responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair and upgrades of 44 buildings, 88 acres of grounds, miles of underground infrastructure, roads, two piers, and several seawalls.

DPW accomplishes this through the integration of our team of professionals across the many disciplines to include engineers, planners, carpenters, plumbers, gardeners, contractors, electricians, and painters. By working together we provide continuous service for all facilities across the campus and ensure that maintenance, repair and upgrades are completed in a timely manner.
