Ms. Kreitzer has over 20 years’ experience in higher education and labor and employment law. Before joining the Academy, she was the General Counsel for Suffolk County Community College, where she was responsible for supervising all of its legal matters. In addition, she oversaw the development of and the compliance with policies pertaining to board governance, employment, management, academics and student activities. She also provided management and employee training on a variety of topics, including harassment and discrimination prevention. Ms. Kreitzer was a 2009 recipient of the College’s Presidential Service Award for her spearheading litigation that insured the County of Suffolk’s compliance with New York State Education Law.

Prior to the College, Ms. Kreitzer privately practiced labor and employment law in both New York and California, representing public, private, union and non-union employers. She has litigated discrimination, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, breach of contract and constructive discharge matters in both state and federal courts. She counseled businesses on compliance with state and federal laws applicable to the workplace, including wage and hour laws, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the NYS Human Rights Law, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) and the Public Employees Fair Employment Act (Taylor Law), among others. She has also represented clients in collective bargaining negotiations and before the National Labor Relations Board and the Public Employment Relations Board, and has administered numerous collective bargaining agreements.

Ms. Kreitzer has also served as an adjunct professor at Stony Brook University, where she taught a course on gender issues in the law, and has lectured on labor and employment matters in a variety of forums. She has served as co-chair of the Labor and Employment Law Committee of the Suffolk County Bar Association and as an officer of the Suffolk County Academy of Law.

Ms. Kreitzer is admitted to practice in New York, California and Massachusetts, in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second and Ninth Circuits and in the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the Northern, Southern and Eastern Districts of California. She graduated from Boston University School of Law (J.D. cum laude), where she was Symposium Editor for the International Law Journal. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, with a minor in Business, from Stony Brook University.
