USMMA Midshipmen to March in NYC St. Patrick's Day Parade

KINGS POINT, N.Y., March 12, 2019 – On Saturday, March 16th, the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) Regimental Band, “George M. Cohan’s Own,” USMMA Color Guard, and Regiment of Midshipmen will march in New York City’s 258th St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

This year’s Grand Marshall is Dr. Bryan O’Dwyer, Esq. The parade, which is the world’s oldest and largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade, starts at 11 a.m. on 44th Street, and participants will march up to 79th Street. The first four hours of the parade will be televised on WNBC, Channel 4 in New York. It will also available on NBC’s Live Stream: St. Patrick’s Day 2019 or on the NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade YouTube Channel.

The USMMA Regimental Band will march with An Garda Síochána, Ireland's police force. Translated from Irish means “guardian of the peace.” USMMA will step-off at 11:45 a.m. on 47th Street and pass the Official Reviewing Stand at 64th Street. Note: This year’s St. Patrick’s Day parade will be held on March 16th, due to religious observances.
