KINGS POINT, N.Y. Aug. 19, 2019 - The U. S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point will host Parents Weekend, Sept. 6-8, 2019.

Highlights of Parents Weekend will include the Ceremony of Beating Retreat, by the USMMA Regimental Band, on Sept. 6, and a formal parade on Sept. 7. The parade marks the acceptance of the Plebe class into the U.S. Navy Reserve and is followed by an informal pinning ceremony for families and friends on Barney Square. The annual event will also offer opportunities to visit Midshipmen living quarters, academic classes, and sporting events, along with a number of staff presentations, while the Class of 2023 will enjoy their first night of liberty since entering the Academy. (Note: Restriction and watches remain in effect during Parents Weekend. Please check with your Midshipman/Plebe to ensure they meet eligibility requirements for liberty).
