In celebration of Earth Day 2013, the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) and the Great Neck Library (GNL) will work together once again to offer a Saturday filled with fun science and colorful chemistry.  Six work stations will include twenty interactive hands-on activities and demonstrations.  While enriching the community, this educational program aims to promote an awareness of and an appreciation for the Oceans, one of our blue planet’s most valuable natural resources, and encourage their sustainability through green sciences, green technologies and green behaviors.

Local youth in grades K-6 and their families are cordially invited to join in this celebration at the Great Neck Library on Saturday, April 20, 2013:

11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (grades 5 – 6)

1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. (grades 3-4)

2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. (grades K –2)

This program, sponsored by the Math and Science Department of the USMMA, the Children Service Department of the GNL, and the American Chemical Society, is open to the public, free of charge.
