USMMA Advisory Board Presents 2015 Annual Report to Congressional Board of Visitors
KINGS POINT, N.Y., August 4, 2015 – Last Wednesday, the United States Merchant Marine Academy Advisory Board presented their 2015 Annual Report to the Secretary of Transportation to the Academy’s Congressional Board of Visitors, at the Capital Visitors Center in Washington D.C.
USMMA Advisory Board serves as an independent body whose purpose is to examine the course of instruction and management at the Academy and advise the USMMA Superintendent, Maritime Administrator and U.S. Secretary of Transportation to ensure the best possible educational environment for all midshipmen. Advisory Board members are selected by the Secretary of Transportation to review the implementation of the Academy's strategic plan as well as the Academy’s fiscal soundness, curriculum, morale and campus climate, student life, diversity and facilities. By statute, Advisory Board members must be individuals distinguished in education and fields related to the Academy's mission.
