Midshipmen Awarded Academic Stars

StarsKINGS POINT, N.Y., December 5, 2019 – On Monday, November 25th, The United States Merchant Marine Academy Superintendent, Rear Admiral Jack Buono, Deputy Superintendent, Rear Admiral Susan L. Dunlap, Commandant, Captain Mike Stroud, and Academic Dean, Dr. John Ballard awarded Gold and Silver Stars to midshipmen who earned distinction for their academic performance during the First Term of Academic Year 2019.


Midshipmen were awarded Academic Stars on the following basis: Gold Star: a QPA of at least 3.50 with no course failures in the term; and Silver Star: a QPA of at least 3.25 up to and including 3.49 with no course failures in the term.
